Instant pot ven pongal is a savory classic south Indian breakfast recipe. It is prepared using rice, moong dal cooked in ghee along with some Indian spices.Perfect festive recipe & one pot healthy meal.
1 cup white rice or quinoa- (Wash, rinse well until the water comes out clear and set aside.)
1 cup roasted moong dal
salt to taste
pinch of turmeric
3 cups of water
1tbsp cumin seeds
1tbsp coarsely ground black pepper
1tbsp finely chopped ginger
5-6 whole cashews
few curry leaves
pinch of Hing
1tbsp finely chopped green chilies
1)In The Instant pot press the sauté button once it is hot add ghee and all the seasoning fry for few minutes.
2)Then add moong dal, turmeric, white rice, salt. Sautee for few minutes.
3)Add water mix well. Cancel the sauté button.
5)Close the lid and cook in rice mode for about 12mins.
6)Allow the press to release naturally and serve hot with some sambar or coconut chutney or eat as is.
