Mirchi(Long green chili) fritters is a popular South Indian street snack. Make a slit between a green chili deseed it and dip it in chickpea batter , deep fry until it turns golden brown/crispy. Garnish with finely chopped onion, chaat masala and lime juice. Perfect rainy/snow day snack .serve along with some hot cup of Indian chai/tea.
Serves 4-6
prep time:10-15 mins
cook time:20 mins
Ingredients:
5-6 Long green chili(Wash, pat dry make an incision , deseed and set aside.)
Oil for deep frying
For Chickpea batter:
1 cup Chickpea flour
2 tbsp Rice flour
1 tsp Red chili powder
1/2 tsp Ajwain seeds(Caraway seeds)
pinch of baking soda
salt to taste
water as needed
Chickpea Batter procedure:
In a large mixing bowl add all the batter ingredients with enough water until the batter reaches thick to medium consistency and set aside.
For Garnish:
1 small onion finely chopped
5-6 tbsp lime juice
1 tsp chaat masala
Procedure
1)Heat oil for deep frying once it is hot enough .Dip a green chili in the chickpea batter and deep fry until it turns golden color evenly on both sides.
2)Repeat the same process for rest of the green chilies.
3)Place the fritters on the paper towel to remove any excess oil and Garnish with finely chopped onion, chaat masala and lime juice.
