Murukku

Murukku is a savory,crunchy Indian snack.It is typically prepared from rice flour,urad dal flour and chickpea flour.For murukku preparation today i am using all purpose flour and yogurt.This is one of my favorite Diwali snack.

Prep time:10mins
cook time:5-6mins
Makes 5-6

Ingredients
1cup rice flour
1/4cup all purpose flour(maida)
2tbsp butter
salt to taste
1/2tsp red chili powder
pinch of turmeric
2-4 tbsp plain yogurt
1/2tsp cumin seeds
water for kneading as required
Oil for frying

Procedure:
-In a large mixing bowl add all the ingredients along with some water to form a thick dough.Make two equal balls.

 


-Use a murukku press with star shape make a log with one part of the dough and close the press.Watch the below video how use the press.


-Heat a skillet on medium flame for frying once it is hot enough using the press make a circular shape.Fry until it golden brown.place it onto the tissue paper to remove excess oil.IMG_6209
-Store them in the airtight container.

Notes:
-You make the circular shape with the dough using the press onto a plate.Prepare the same for rest of the dough and then start frying.
