Indian gooseberry pickle

Amla(Indian Gooseberry) instant homemade pickle is prepared by combining dry roasted fenugreek seed powder , mustard seed powder and red chili powder.It is tangy,bitter and spicy.It is wonderful immune booster with lots of health benefits.

Prep time:10 mins
Cook time:20 mins:
Makes 5-6 servings

Ingredients:

12 fresh Indian gooseberry(Wash and dry amla with a clean cloth and make some random incisions.Set aside.)
Salt to taste
1/2tsp turmeric

Step(2):
For Seasonings:
2tbsp dry roasted mustard seed powder
2tbsp dry roasted fenugreek seed powder
2tbsp red chili powder

Step(3):
4tbsp mustard oil
pinch of hing (Asafetida)
1 dry red chili
-Heat a small skillet on medium flame add oil, hing and red dry chili. Allow the red chili to turn golden brown and switch off the flame. Allow it to cool completely.

Procedure:
1)Heat a pan with few drops of oil on a medium low heat and add amla,salt,turmeric and cook it covered until they are golden brown.Stir occasionally.


2)Allow them to cool completely then add all the seasoning from step(2) and step(3).IMG_6161
3)Mix thoroughly and enjoy it with steamed rice as a side along with some ghee.

Notes:
-They’re available in Indian grocery store.
-You can store it in an air tight container for up to 2 weeks.
-You can totally skip red chili powder in step(2) if you don’t like it to be spicy.
-Add salt according to your taste.
