Pulihora is made with cooked rice and tamarind pulp along with some seasoning.It is a very popular dish among many South Indian states.It is offered to various gods for most of the festivals.

1 cup cooked rice
1/4 cup of tamarind pulp(soak tamarind with 1/4 cup of water in a bowl and microwave for a minute.Allow it to cool before you squeeze the tamarind pulp.Set the pulp aside.)

4 Green Chilies
2 tbsp Roasted sesame seed powder (Dry roast sesame seeds in a pan on a medium flame .Allow them to completely before you blend it.Make a coarse powder and set aside)
1/2 tsp Chana dal
1/2 tsp Urad dal
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
2 Red chilies
1 tsp peanuts
Pinch of hing
Pinch of Turmeric
1 tsp Oil
- Heat a pan with oil on a medium flame and add all the seasoning.fry them until they turn golden in color.
- Then add green chilies,curry leaves ,tamarind pulp,salt and turmeric.Cook the mixture until it reaches thick consistency.
- Now add the mixture into the cooked rice along with sesame seed powder and mix thoroughly.
- Serve it with some yogurt or eat as is.
1.Add a 1 tsp of Jaggery(Cane Sugar) to the mixture to enhance the taste of pulihora.
2.Make sure you dont’t overcook your rice.you can few drops of oil to the rice while it is cooking.
