Sambar powder

Homemade Sambar powder is aromatic and flavorful mixture prepared by dry roasting a blend of Indian spices.It is a must have in a south Indian kitchen.

Ingredients:
1 cup Chana Dal
1 cup Urad Dal
1 and 1/2 cup  Coriander seeds/Dhaniya
1 tsp Jeera
1 tsp Fenugreek seeds
1 tsp Sesame Seeds
1and 1/2 tsp raw rice
4-5 Red chilies

Procedure:

  • Heat a pan and dry roast all the ingredients till they turn slightly brown on a low flame.Allow them to cool and Use a blender to make a fine powder.

Notes:

  • Add dry coconut for some extra flavor
