Rajma(Red kidney beans)

Red kidney beans cooked in onion and tomato gravy with Indian spices is one of the easiest quick one pot meal.It can served with rice and Indian breads(Roti,Naan,Pulka).

Time 20 minutes
Serves 4

Ingredients:
1 Can low sodium Red kidney beans(Rinse and set aside)
1 Medium onion-grind into paste
3  medium size tomato-grind into paste
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp Rajma Masala powder
1/2 tsp chilli powder
salt to taste
1 tsp olive oil
1/2 cup of water
2 tsp  Cilantro


Procedure:

  1. Heat pressure cooker with a tsp of oil and add carway seeds allow them to splutter.Then add bay leaf ,ginger-garlic paste,onion and saute for until the raw flavor is  gone.
  2. Now add tomato puree saute until the moisture is gone then add rajma masala powder,chilli powder,salt,red kidney beans and saute for a minute.
  3.  Add half cup of water and close the lid.wait for 3 whistles and remove from the stove allow it to cool down before opening the lid.
  4.  Top it up with chopped cilantro and serve hot with Rice/Indian breads.
