How to make Roti/Phulka

Roti/chapathi/Phulka(Indian flat bread) is a staple carbohydrate made with whole wheat flour and usually consumed for breakfast,lunch and dinner with different vegetable dishes.

Time 20 mins

serves 4

Ingredients:

1 cup whole wheat flour

salt to taste

water required to knead

butter/ghee

Procedure:

  1. A dough is prepared by kneading whole wheat flour,salt and water and allowing it to rest for 15 to 20 minutes.
  2. Take small portions of dough, make round balls and press between palms to make round discs. Dip them in flour and rollout to make an even circle.
  3. Place the rollout chapathi on the preheated dry griddle and cook on both sides, turning intermittently
  4. Top off the roti/chapathi/Pulka with butter/ghee.Serve with any Vegetarian Curry.
